What UK compers actually win

The honest shape of a comping year

Most UK competition wins are small and steady. The headline £20,000 holiday makes for a great Instagram post, but it is not the typical prize. Here is what real UK competition winners actually take home across a year of consistent entering.

Vouchers

Very common

Amazon, Tesco, John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, Costa — the everyday prize that turns up most often. Usually £10 to £100, occasionally more on a Bank Holiday promo.

Hampers and beauty bundles

Common

Christmas hampers, Easter chocolate boxes, advent skincare kits and brand sample bundles. Often £30 to £150 in retail value and a brilliant way to start a comping habit.

Tech and electronics

Common

AirPods, Kindles, Ninja air fryers, the occasional smart TV. Tech prizes love social-media promos and brand newsletter draws.

Tickets and experiences

Regular

Festival passes, theatre tickets, restaurant tasting menus, spa days, premier league seats. Often listed at face value but mean more than that on the day.

Food, drink and lifestyle

Common

Wine cases, gin subscriptions, monthly cheese boxes, gym memberships, magazine subscriptions. Smaller-value but frequent across the year.

Holidays, cars and houses

Rare

Yes, people genuinely win these. No, they are not the typical comping prize. Treat the big-ticket draws as a long-term lottery, not the bread and butter.

How we verify winner stories

A lot of competition websites list "winners" with no clear sourcing. Here is how Sweepzy handles it differently, and why this page is honest about its limits.

Member-submitted

Every winner story on this page was written and submitted by a signed-in Sweepzy member from their dashboard. None of these are written by us in the third person.

Reviewed before going live

Stories sit in a queue until a moderator has read them. We reject submissions that look like marketing for an external service, that mention prize amounts inconsistent with the prize, or that contain personal data the winner clearly did not mean to publish.

Proof when possible

Where it makes sense — bigger prizes, anything we have not seen the winner share before — we ask members for proof: a confirmation email, a photo of the prize on arrival or a public social post. Optional, but encouraged.

No fabricated winners

We do not write fake winner stories under invented names to fill space. If the queue is short, the page is short. Honest beats padded.

Just had a win? Here is what to do next

The win email lands and the first impulse is to scream into the group chat — fair enough. Once the dust settles, there are a handful of practical steps that make claiming the prize smoother, keep HMRC happy on the larger draws and protect you from the "you have won" scam emails that show up after every real win.
